Hunters Hill Extension & Second-Storey Addition
The Challenge
This Hunters Hill family faced a common dilemma: as their two young children were getting older, they needed to expand their home to provide the space that they could grow into.
At the same time the family were keen to use the renovation as an opportunity to improve the layout of their ground floor whilst using the second storey to expand the number of bedrooms and bathrooms as well as providing another living area.
Addbuild's Response
The project involved a comprehensive design, construction, and finishing of a substantial ground-floor rear extension, paired with a new second-story addition to the existing home.
The extension significantly enlarged living spaces on the ground floor while adding a functional and aesthetically integrated upper level.
The design looked to translate the family’s needs into practical layouts, and interior concepts that maximise space, light, and usability.
Addbuild’s designer went through many options and changes to ensure the family were completely happy with the final plans, and also amended the design slightly to ensure it was a Complying Development (CDC) to take advantage of the fast-tracked application process.
The completed works delivered expanded ground-floor living areas with improved flow and enhanced natural light, plus a larger entertaining area.
The second-storey included a large living area, bedrooms, a stand alone bathroom, as well as a master bedroom with ensuite and walk-in wardrobe. This accommodated the entire family, all the while complementing the existing home stylistically.
Regular updates and active collaboration with the family ensured alignment with their vision and timely adjustments as needed.
The project demonstrates Addbuild’s ability to manage large-scale, ground and first floor additions and renovations from conception through completion, delivering a cohesive, beautifully finished home that the clients are proud of, all within budget.
